Karen Bright-Papeo, LPC, ACS

Karen  is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Approved Clinical Supervisor who graduated with a Masters from Kean University, specializing in Counselor Education.  She has over 30 years of experience working in the mental health field in the emergency room and in home settings.  She works primarily with adults, but has experience with all age groups.  Karen provides sessions in person at our Freehold location and virtually throughout New Jersey through a secure telehealth portal.

Karen has an approach that is warm and welcoming, relying heavily on positive psychology.  She is easygoing and has an empathetic approach that allows her clients to be vulnerable in a safe space.  Her specialties are grief and life changes; but she has thorough knowledge of general depression and anxiety, career and life counseling, chronic illness, domestic abuse and violence, peer and familial relationships, trauma and PTSD, and women’s issues.  Karen utilizes many treatment modalities after assessing the best approach given the context of the presenting issues and needs of the client.  Her preferred modalities / approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy, compassion, rational and strength based, eclectic, intervention, and she often uses motivational interviewing.
